Padparasha is of the corundum family, but don't be misled and call it sapphire. It is more unique than any other corundum coloration.
True padparadscha is said to be a subtle combination of pink and orange hues that resembles a marriage between the lotus flower and a sunset.
One thing is for sure, you will not find it on too many fingers.
Yet padparadscha makes an excellent ring since it has a hardness of 9.
Caution: Some recent mass difussion heat treating is producing a stone that could be confused with padparadscha.
