Ruby is the most valuable colored gemstone and probably second only to a true hued fancy colored diamond. Fine quality untreated Pigeon Blood rubies from Mogok in Burma are the gemstones of the rich. Collectors seek them and prices soar. The only element separating a generally unspectacular colorless sapphire and a dazzling ruby is a minute amount of chromium.

Pure corundum is colorless. It is only the trace elements of impurity that determine color.

Mong Hsu rubies are filling the market void that the Mogok Stone Track cannot supply. And most Mogok ruby is heat treated, a permanent treatment that has been known and accepted for over a century.
